Jeanette Minson, LMSW

Jeanette obtained her MSW from Columbia University’s School of Social Work. An interdisciplinary professional, Jeanette previously had a career as an actor and in tech working at startups and venture capital in New York City for over the past decade. She received her BFA in Drama with Honors from NYU/Tisch School of the Arts. Her breadth of experiences allows her unique insights, understanding, and empathy in working with people from many different backgrounds.

“I help people who struggle with all kinds of losses (e.g. the loss of a relationship, a job or a loved one, a miscarriage), life transitions, and the feelings of anxiety, fear and sadness that often result. In our work together, I help people in the process of accepting things they cannot change to help them adapt and move forward in their lives making meaning of those losses.

I believe the best work in therapy flows from an understanding of ourselves while also working towards tangible changes that help us move in the direction we want. I think client and therapist should take time to develop and clarify the goals of treatment together so an agreed upon “game plan” is in place.

Sessions with me are pretty structured. We will start by reviewing your week and any home practice we may have set the week before. This would be followed by learning a new skill or working on one of our goals, and we typically end by identifying some action items for the week as well as processing any questions or comments about the session.”

Jeanette strives to build a therapeutic relationship built on warmth, authenticity, curiosity, and collaboration. Her approach is evidence-based, making use of a range of interventions within CBT, DBT, ACT, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic theory, and mindfulness.
